Flaxcombe’s 1940s field trip fun
Flaxcombe’s history book records memories of Flaxcombe School and the field trips the students attended, often transported by truck. Norman Ritchie attended high school at Flaxcombe Consolidated. Years later his name would be well remembered as the Norman Ritchie Community Centre now bears his name.
Norm served in the Canadian Army during the war years. He purchased land south of Smiley where he farmed and raised cattle until a serious accident forced him to sell out and he and his wife Lou moved to Kindersley. Norm was the manager for the Kindersley Transport Company and Mayor of Kindersley.
