Fun Fact: Snow Shoes

The practice of wearing large, flattened footwear to disperse the force of a foot hitting the snow, thus keeping one from sinking with every step, began thousands of years ago in Central Asia.

The people that crossed the Bering Strait brought their snowshoes to the Americas. Native American tribes created their own versions to adapt to the landscapes where they hunted and fished.
